Widgets and Start Pages at WidgetsLive

A good post today in Read Write Web:  We would have to agree that productivity is key. However, extensibility is also right up there at the top of the list. Start pages and environments that utilize widgets should be agnostic with regard to the applications ("modules" and "widgets") that are running on them and from where they are running. This gives users and developers the greatest amount of flexibility in terms of enhancing the productivity and usefulness of these sites.

Our site, www.whiteboxresearch.com (in beta), is geared for stock analyst user types who what to perform equity research using a market driven financial model as well as converse about stocks in near real time through posting to their blogs and reading RSS feeds all without leaving the site. Our goal is to provide the ultimate in extensibility for our users. Our site can also be customized with applications using our mini-api by permitting a user to enter a URL and then having that site as a module in Whitebox Research. We also allow the development of sites/applications that sit on/run from developer or partner sites that provide greater flexibility and productive apps in a "module" or "widget" format within the context of your Whitebox Research start page...for example a real-time ticker, or perhaps a trading application.

Introducing Whitebox Research: Market Driven Equity Research

Today we're launching a beta version of Whitebox Research: A platform and system for Market Driven Equity Research that harnesses the collective intelligence of the market to analyze stocks quantitatively, through a financial model, and qualitatively, through conversation using blogs and RSS. 

Whitebox Research uses a "start-page" environment to give you the ability to:

• Analyze stocks using a financial valuation model
• Converse about stocks by posting directly to your blog from the site
• Monitor what is being discussed by other Whitebox Research users and others on the Internet by bringing in feeds by ticker to tabs on your site and,
• Revise your financial analysis as you learn more information and change your thinking.

Most importantly, we allow you to see not only what you think the value of the stocks are but what the market thinks as well, based both on price, and what we call the Price Implied Expectation value from our financial model. 

The platform is completely open and ultimately extensible, allowing for developers to build modules that capture real-time price feeds, charts, news, video, trading and any other application that can be envisioned.

We will be continually adding new modules to the platform and encourage your comments and participation because the more people who participate, the better the information.
